grrrrrrrr

Well it's Christmas shopping season, the one I dread. Don't get me wrong I love to shop but the crowds suck, checking out shouldn't take 1/2 a hour, parking lots suck too. Good news, I get 3 free hours a day during the weekdays, boys and girls kids club rocks. 25 membership and dinner option for $1 all I can think is wow! I can go back to school after all.

Court was today and everything when ok , we get to go back in Jan which is most likely going to get thrown out. Talked to a sub worker as the one assigned to us is sick(again!) and she agreed every thing has been done that can be done, our area just doesn't have the programs for kids with mental health issues, shocking as In Canada, suicide accounts for 24 percent of all deaths among 15-24 year olds and 16 percent among 16-44 year olds. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for Canadians between the ages of 10 and 24.8 Seventy-three percent of hospital admissions for attempted suicide are for people between the ages of 15 and 44.People with mood disorders are at a particularly high risk of suicide.Studies indicate that more than 90 percent of suicide victims have a diagnosable psychiatric illness, and suicide is the most common cause of death for people with schizophrenia. Both major depression and bipolar disorder account for 15 to 25 percent of all deaths by suicide in patients with severe mood disorders. For a killer deasease it just isn't talked about, yes Normand isn't depressed but the rate of deaths cause by mental illnesses is staggering.Canada needs to wake up and actually stop waisting tax dollars and do something.

  1. my daughter with bipolar d/o is more likely to display suicidal gestures when she is in a manic state - much more so than when she is depressed. and the services here are nearly none (i live in michigan). something needs to be done, in general, to increase the mental health services everywhere. my daughter has been stuck in a sub-standard psychiatric hospital for a month now waiting for residential treatment. she's finally going to be moved tomorrow. it's terrible!

glad court went well for you and that things keep going well with the boys and girls club!
